May 2026 is a transitional vinyl month. Record Store Day 2026 happened on April 18, which means early May is about working through the pile of RSD haul while labels start the summer release cycle. The calendar below covers the month's most anticipated drops organized by release date, from a Camera Obscura 25th anniversary reissue to a Dave Matthews Band 5LP Gorge box to new studio albums from Devin Townsend and The Alarm.
Release dates shift. The list below is accurate as of publication, sourced from label announcements, shop pre-order pages, and artist socials. Double-check with your local shop in the week before any release you care about. And pre-order anything you absolutely need, because first pressings move fast.

Oteil Burbridge & Lamar Williams Jr.: The Offering
Longtime Allman Brothers and Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge teams with Lamar Williams Jr. (son of the late Allman Brothers bassist Lamar Williams) for a collaborative studio record. The first two singles dropped in March and April, and the full album arrives May 1. Essential for jam-scene collectors and anyone who tracks the Allmans lineage.
Alberto Giurioli: Leftovers
Italian pianist Alberto Giurioli follows up a string of viral Spotify tracks with Leftovers, an instrumental piano-forward record released on vinyl. Limited pressings; pre-order at your local shop if you want first-pressing stock.
Billie Eilish: When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (Baby Blue Vinyl)
A baby blue variant reissue of Billie Eilish's landmark 2019 debut. Not a new record but a fresh pressing for collectors who missed the original color variants or want the clean 2026 press.

Camera Obscura: Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi (25th Anniversary Edition)
The one indie collectors circle on the calendar. Camera Obscura's 2001 sophomore LP Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi gets a 25th anniversary vinyl reissue, remastered and expected in multiple color variants. Produced by Stuart Murdoch (Belle and Sebastian), the album is one of the finest Glasgow twee records ever pressed, and finding clean first-pressing copies has been difficult for years. This reissue solves that.
Aldous Harding: Train On The Island
New studio album from Aldous Harding, the New Zealand singer-songwriter whose previous records on 4AD have built a deeply devoted following. Train On The Island continues the spare, arresting catalog. Vinyl will see standard black plus at least one indie-exclusive color variant.
Basement: WIRED
Basement returns with WIRED, their first new record in several years. Expect the usual melodic emo-meets-grunge sound that put the UK band on US alt radio. Multiple vinyl variants are likely, including a shop-exclusive pressing.
Broken Social Scene: Remember the Humans
A new full-length from Broken Social Scene, the Toronto-based collective whose You Forgot It In People remains a touchstone of 2000s indie. Remember the Humans is a cautious, reflective record. The 2LP vinyl is the expected format given the band's history of full-length sprawl.

Dave Matthews Band: Take Me Back / Live From the Gorge (5LP Box)
A major release for the DMB and jam-band community. Five LPs of live recordings from the band's annual residency at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington state, one of the defining American concert settings. The box is expected to include a booklet with photography from the Gorge runs and additional ephemera. Limited pressings; pre-order early.
Bob Dylan: Another Side of Bob Dylan (Reissue)
A remastered vinyl reissue of Dylan's 1964 fourth studio album, the record where he started leaving folk revival behind for a looser, more personal songwriting voice. Classic pressing; worth owning a clean copy for any serious catalog collection.
May 29, 2026
Devin Townsend: The Moth
Another studio record from the endlessly prolific Devin Townsend. The Moth continues Townsend's signature expansive, orchestral metal production. Multiple vinyl variants, including color pressings, are expected from InsideOut / HevyDevy. A Townsend release month is usually a variant-completionist problem.
The Alarm: Transformation
The Alarm continues Mike Peters' remarkable late-career resurgence with Transformation, the band's latest studio record. A Welsh post-punk institution with a fiercely loyal following, the band's recent releases have been supported by strong tour schedules and direct-to-fan drops.
RSD 2026 Leftovers
What is still shakable from April 18
Most high-demand Record Store Day 2026 exclusives sold out on release morning. But leftover stock from quieter shops trickles into May. Call any small-market record store you know on May 1. The obvious big-market titles are gone; the mid-tier and niche RSD pressings sometimes show up on lesser-trafficked shelves through the first week of May.
For confirmed-authentic RSD exclusives post-release, rsdmrkt.com is the official secondary marketplace and a safer bet than general resale sites.
How to Shop a Release Month
- Pre-order what you care about. First pressings of anniversary reissues (Camera Obscura) and limited box sets (Dave Matthews) often sell out before release day. Pre-ordering at your local shop locks in stock and supports the shop on release week.
- Check your local shop's Instagram. Most indie shops post release-day lists the week of. Comment or DM to reserve a specific title.
- Release Tuesday vs Friday. Most mainstream releases hit Fridays. Some reissues, especially from smaller labels, drop on other weekdays.
- Indie exclusives exist. Many new releases have a separate color variant only available at independent record stores. This is how the industry supports indie shops. Always worth asking.
- Plan around paydays. May 1, May 8, May 22, and May 29 all have major releases. Budget accordingly.
